Photograph the pages properly

Place each page on a flat, contrasting surface near a window or under even room lighting. Hold the phone directly above the paper so the sides look parallel. Avoid casting your own shadow across the page.

Check the first photo at full size before photographing everything. Small text should be sharp, every corner should be visible and no private document should appear in the background.

  • Use the same portrait or landscape direction for every page.
  • Photograph pages in order so arranging them later is quicker.
  • Retake glare, blur or cropped edges immediately.

Make one PDF in the browser

Open the Images to PDF tool, choose the photos and move them into the right order. The tool fits each image onto an A4 page and creates the PDF on your device. Your document is not uploaded to London Community IT.

Download the result and open it before deleting anything. Scroll through every page and check the order, direction and readability.

Keep the file small enough to send

Photographs can make a PDF large. If an email or online form rejects it, compress the original images first and create the PDF again. A lower image width is often enough for ordinary forms, but avoid making small print unreadable.

Use a clear filename such as charity-registration-form-2026.pdf instead of scan0007.pdf. That small detail makes the document easier for both you and the recipient to manage.

Before you send sensitive paperwork

  • Confirm the destination email address or upload portal.
  • Check that the PDF contains only the requested pages.
  • Keep a secure copy until the recipient confirms receipt.
  • Do not send identity documents through an unverified WhatsApp number or link.
