The live arrow applies the WMM2025 magnetic-declination correction for your location. Phone sensors can still be affected by nearby metal, magnets and electronics.
HOW TO PLAY
Three steps to find your direction.
- 01Allow your location
The app asks automatically. Manual coordinates remain available if location is blocked.
- 02Follow the turn guide
Turn left or right as instructed. The Apps-page launch tap also handles motion permission on phones that require it.
- 03Reach Makkah direction
Hold steady when you are close. The whole navigator celebrates when you are aligned.
THE CALCULATION
How the Qibla direction is calculated
The result is the initial great-circle bearing from your coordinates to the Kaaba in Makkah. It is measured clockwise from geographic north. A flat map can make the shortest route look curved, so the Qibla may not match a simple straight line drawn across a map projection. Live mode uses the WMM2025 model to correct the phone's magnetic heading towards true north; it will be disabled when that model reaches the end of its supported period.
LONDON & THE UK
Qibla direction from London
From central London the bearing is approximately 119° from true north, or east-southeast. Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and other places have slightly different results, which is why using your current location gives a better local bearing.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your coordinates stay in the tab
Location and compass readings are used only by the page running on your device. They are not added to the address, sent to London Community IT or saved in an account. You can also keep permission off and use manual coordinates.
ACCURACY CHECK
If the compass looks wrong
Remove magnetic cases, move away from metal and speakers, and recalibrate with a gentle figure-of-eight motion. Phone sensors are an aid rather than a guarantee, so compare the degree bearing with a trusted local mosque direction when accuracy is especially important.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Qibla finder help
How do I find the Qibla from my current location?
Open the page and allow browser location access. It calculates the direction to the Kaaba and starts live guidance automatically on supported phones. Follow the turn-left or turn-right message until the screen celebrates. On a first direct visit, some Apple-style browsers may require one ordinary page tap before releasing motion sensors.
What direction is the Qibla from London?
From central London, the initial great-circle bearing to the Kaaba is approximately 119 degrees clockwise from true north, roughly east-southeast. The exact result changes slightly with your location.
Can I find the Qibla without a phone compass?
Yes. Use the numbered bearing with a physical compass or a map. The app also accepts latitude and longitude when browser location is unavailable.
Why is my phone compass moving or showing a different direction?
Magnetic cases, speakers, metal furniture, electronics, calibration and browser sensor support can affect the heading. Move away from interference, remove magnetic accessories and move the phone gently in a figure of eight.
Does London Community IT store my location?
No. This page uses the location and orientation readings in the current browser tab to calculate the result. The app does not send those coordinates to London Community IT or save them in an account.
